Fiji FishingIf you are a sport fisherman back at home, and want to see what Fiji has to offer, you wont be disappointed. You can take boats into local rivers, or try your luck on the larger fish in the blue waters of the ocean. If your entering into the local bays and rivers, you can expect to catch some rainbow runners, jack crevalle, and Spanish mackerel. If your are looking for much larger trophy fish, you may want to hunt down sail fish and barracuda. You can do some 'catch and release', or choose to have them cooked up. Some fisherman like to get these fish stuffed and mounted so they can show their friends a trophy of what he caught in Fiji. Some other fish that you may find in this part of the world include tuna, wahoo, snapper, and mangrove jack. Once you have caught your fish you are able to bring them home, and the resort staff are usually more then happy to help you out by cooking up your prize for a seafood feast. If you are new to fiji fishing or would like to go with a seasoned fisherman who knows the area, go on a guided tour with experienced captains who are waiting to take you to the ocean so that you can get the catch of the day. Generally the fishing in Fiji is quite good
all year round, so you won't have to worry much about what season that
you are coming in. |
